Revista de Derecho Privado
(Journal of
Private Law) publishes the results of research of the departments of Civil
Law, Commercial Law and Procedural Law of the Faculty of Law in the
Universidad Externado de Colombia. It also carries papers of interest to the
legal community in Colombia that are written by professors and lawyers of
other national and international universities. The journal is produced by
the Universidad Externado de Colombia in Bogotá.
The journal addresses private law issues, focusing on its development in the
Roman tradition. It highlights the contrasts and similarities between the
Latin-American, European and Anglo-American judicial systems. The journal
accepts only unpublished documents. The papers are evaluated by anonymous
external referees under a double-blind process.
The Universidad Externado de Colombia is one of the most important,
prestigious and renowned institutional publishers in Colombia. It has more
than 1,900 published titles and has an average of 136 new publications per
year. It also co-edits with prestigious national and international
institutions of higher education centers and other publishers.
The Externado was founded in 1886 and it remains as one of the most
prestigious and academically rigorous universities in Colombia. It is the
Alma Mater of many eminent lawyers, professors, magistrates, financers, high
state officials and Colombian leaders. It has the accreditation of high
quality from the National Educational Ministry. The institution has 4
consolidated research centers with 43 research groups. It has also made more
than 187 international agreements with renowned universities around the
world, such as: Université Panthéon-Assas Paris 2, France; Université Paris
1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, France; Université Toulouse 1 Capitole, France;
Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Mexico; Columbia University of New
York, US; University of Wisconsin-Madison, US; Universidad Carlos III de
Madrid, Spain; Universita Degli Studi Di Roma La Sapienza, Italy; Ruhr-Universität
Bochum, Germany; University of Wollongong, Australia and University of
Manitoba, Canada among others.
Since 1998, Revista de Derecho Privado publishes biannually in July
and December. It is available in LatAm-Studies full-text online.
